Our mission is to rally the community of Maui, harnessing our collective strength, aloha spirit, and shared love for this land to rebuild, restore, and rejuvenate our beloved island home.
Willy Shim is a true Hawaiian native, born and raised on these islands, he’s spent a lifetime riding Hawaii’s waves. His passion is teaching students aged 3 to 80 how to surf Maui-style, using surfing as a vessel to share the rich tapestry of Hawaiian culture and the spirit of ‘mana.’ His dedication runs so deep, he’d give his very blood for this beloved land.
When the raging fires broke loose in Lahaina, Willy fled from his house. Seeing the wreckage that included his own home, storefront, and that covered his beloved community, he was determine to make a difference. He knew that all he required was his boundless positivity and the aloha spirit, ready to ride the waves of life.
Thus, Imua Maui Nei was born.
